If the pool is cloudy or dirty, it makes dye testing very difficult and is also a health concern. If you are unsure if the water is clean/clear enough, please send a picture ahead of time to confirm. We cannot dive and dye test a green pool.

In order to provide the best quality analysis, your Aquadoctor tech (currently, lead tech DOUG- 10 years leak detection experience, former pool construction manager, highly educated and experienced in pool construction and leaks) will be taking on ALL new jobs- we will update if this changes) will dive the pool and document any and all previous repairs, structural issues, epoxy patches, skimmer/light niche replacements, and all issue to be aware of for future repair concerns and expenditure. Even simple pool repairs often run in the thousands so if you're buying a home with a pool, it's the smartest investment you can make arming you with the knowledge to negotiate with the seller and being prepared for any future pool repair related expenditures. We use the same testing process for inspections that we use for pool leaks with the main difference being we will confirm all equipment is operational and provide a more detailed report for inspections than a standard leak detection report.
When dye testing, it is important to get in the pool to check light niches and conduits. There are multiple areas around pool lights where leaks can occur while some are easily fixed, others require much more extensive repairs. Aquadoctor always preventively seals light conduits as a best practice and to prevent future leak issues. we do not use the plexiglass light leak tester because we found it to be an unreliable test device and will show a leak when there isn't one. Instead we prefer to test lights in the water where we use a trade secret method for sealing any and all accessible light conduits that are often not properly repaired after a conduit leak is located and most builders will never seal any of their light conduits to begin with. We view this as a best practice and always do it when we have access.
